Do you realize that continually praying about your problem will weigh you down?
I know what you’re thinking… “Shouldn’t I be praying about my problem? Isn’t that what my Bible tells me to do?”
The Bible tells us to go to God with our prayers and petitions but in those very same passages, we are directed to shift our focus to declarations of thanks and praise.
Think about it.
Are your prayers fueled by faith in who God is, or are you moved by fear, based on what you’re seeing and feeling?
When we pray, we are to boldly and confidently go to our God who cares.
We are directed to release, cast, and give our “burdens” (problems) to God, not mull them over in desperation and call that prayer.
The truth is, if our prayer life is driven by feelings and fear, we will struggle to wholeheartedly release what’s weighing us down to the One who is faithful. When fear and feelings drive our prayer life, we don’t go to God with declarations of faith, knowing who He is and what we have through Him. From there, we stay stuck in a cycle of emotions that takes us on a downward spiral, blocking the joy and peace of the Lord.
Pay attention to your prayer life. Are you magnifying your problem or magnifying the bigness of your God?
Are you truly releasing the burden that’s weighing you down and moving to declarations of praise, knowing and believing that you love and serve a God who is still on His throne, and He rules and reigns above it all?
God responds to prayers of faith!
I’m challenging you to check in with your prayer life and make sure you are moved by faith, not fear. Release your problems to the problem solver and shift your focus to all you have in and through Him.
You will be amazed at how He will give you a whole new perspective — His perspective and all of a sudden that “problem” that felt overwhelming becomes nothing compared to the bigness of your God!
Don’t fret or worry. Instead of worrying, pray. Let petitions and praises shape your worries into prayers, letting God know your concerns. Before you know it, a sense of God’s wholeness, everything coming together for good, will come and settle you down. It’s wonderful what happens when Christ displaces worry at the center of your life.
-Philippians 4:6-7 (MSG)
I tell you, you can pray for anything, and if you believe that you’ve received it, it will be yours.
-Mark 11:24 (NLT)
And the prayer offered in faith will make the sick person well; the Lord will raise them up. If they have sinned, they will be forgiven.
-James 5:15 (NIV)
