I get asked a lot how “I’m ok” when life scenarios are not ok. For those who know me up close and personal, they know I don’t do the fake-it-till-I-make-it routine.
The truth is, I’ve learned through the years that God’s Word is fail proof. We do have access to a supernatural peace and this peace supersedes any and all situations.
When I’m getting hit hard by life, I’ve learned to anchor myself in God’s Truth. Because this has been a practice of mine for so many years, as soon as I feel the uncertainties of a situation, it’s an automatic response to turn to God. It wasn’t always that way. I had to train myself, and put God’s Word into practice. ⚔️
This is ongoing.
We can’t be passive Christians. We will get knocked out of peace.
There are so many practicals in God’s Word. It truly is a “lamp to our feet and a light unto our path.” (Psalm 119:105)
I’m very simple minded as I read. I don’t overthink it and ask the Holy Spirit to bring me wisdom, understanding and revelation of His Word. As believers in Jesus, this is what we have access to. The Holy Spirit is our teacher.
Isaiah 26:3 shows is the simplest form of “how to” experience God’s perfect peace:
“You will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast, because they trust in you.”
- If our mind is overwhelmed with worry, fear, doubt, the what if’s, etc, we do not have a steady mind. We will struggle to experience God’s peace. This is why the Bible is filled with scriptures on the steady mind, renewing our minds, and to focus on the things that are good and worthy of praise.
- Trusting God through our hard situations gives us access to His supernatural peace. If we are not experiencing His peace, we need to be honest enough with ourselves and God and admit that we are struggling to trust Him. Invite Him into that space where you allowed doubt to rule and ask the Holy Spirit to help you overcome unbelief. He will. He is faithful.
- Move to faith! Believe that God is who He says He is. Declare His promises over your life and stand firm.
- Get your worship on! Lift the name of Jesus higher than your problems. You will experience His peace and comfort that is supernatural!
“Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.” John 14:27 (NIV)
This scripture also shows us that we have a part to play: “do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.” That’s our part. Recognize what’s going on in our hearts and tell fear to shut up!
We have to pull out our Swords, our Bibles, and stand firm in Truth! We have to believe that God is who He says He is and because of Jesus, we have access to His supernatural peace, everyday, all day. Now matter what!
